On Wednesday, August 26, 2015, Fox-Nesbit Engineering, LLC and Nesbit & Associates, LLC participated in CANstruction, sponsored by American Institute of Architects Baton Rouge, Louisiana Art and Science Museum, the Shaw Center, and the Louisiana Old State Capitol. Ten (10) Baton Rouge area architectural, engineering, construction, and other design firms competed to build the best structure made of nonperishable food items. The theme of the event was “CANWars”, inspired by the “Star Wars” Trilogy. All food items were donated to the Greater Baton Rouge Food Bank.
As part of the theme, Fox-Nesbit Engineering, LLC and Nesbit and Associates, LLC teamed together to create a structure titled “Rebels Against Hunger”. The structure featured the iconic ship of the Star Wars Trilogy, The X-Wing Starfighter, which was named the Fighter of Choice against the Galactic Empire. The main aircraft and S-foil wings were comprised of corn, black eyed peas, black beans, green beans, tomato paste, and sweet peas. The laser cannons were constructed of mixed vegetables, cranberry sauce, corn, and condensed milk. The various sizes in cans for the cannons were used to depict its unique shape as seen in the Trilogy.
The Rebel Alliance Insignia was noted as a “Symbol of Hope” in Star Wars. It was made of green beans.
Fox-Nesbit Engineering, LLC and Nesbit & Associates, LLC are proud to work together to provide food for individuals and families in the hope of winning the fight against hunger throughout the community.
